Paradise Pigment Correction Therapy Aftercare for Hyperpigmentation Treatment: Your First 2 Weeks
By Paradise of Beauty | October 12, 2026
College Park, MD (near the University of Maryland and the Downtown College Park retail corridor)
The most important rule after Paradise Pigment Correction Therapy is simple: leave your skin alone so it can heal evenly. I see the best results when you keep the treated area clean, lightly moisturized with the ointment I recommend, and protected from sweat, water exposure, and sun while your skin is settling. If you’re in College Park and you’re juggling classes, work, and a packed schedule, this post is your straight-to-the-point guide for days 1 through 14.
Days 1–2: the 24–48 hour rules that protect your pigment result
Right after a face pigmentation treatment, your skin is doing two jobs at once. It’s calming down from the work I did in the room, and it’s building the foundation for a more even-looking tone. The first 24 to 48 hours are where people accidentally undo progress by “checking” the area too much.
Quick rule of thumb: clean hands only, gentle touch only, and keep your routine boring for two days.
Do this
- Gently cleanse only as instructed, and keep water lukewarm. No hot water, no scrubbing, no cleansing brushes.
- Apply a thin layer of the ointment I recommend. More isn’t better. A heavy layer can feel soothing, but it can also trap heat and oil.
- Keep the area dry for the initial 24 to 48 hours unless I specifically told you otherwise.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase, and try not to press your face into it.
Skip this
- Makeup on the treated area.
- Heavy sweating, hot yoga, saunas, or anything that heats your skin up fast.
- Pools, hot tubs, and long showers. It’s not only about chlorine. It’s also about soaking skin that’s trying to seal and repair.
- Picking or rubbing. Even “just a little” can create patchiness.
A lot of my clients tell me they leave feeling glowy and hydrated, and that’s great. Keep in mind that the glow you see on day one is not your final result. Your job in days 1 and 2 is to protect the work, not chase extra steps.
Days 3–7: scabbing, peeling, and the “don’t touch it” week
This is the week where people get tempted. You might see light flaking, tiny scabs, or areas that look temporarily darker or lighter. That can be normal. What’s not helpful is trying to speed it up with exfoliation or a “quick mask.”
If you remember one thing this week: don’t pick. Let everything lift and fall off naturally so your tone heals evenly.
What I want you to keep doing
- Gentle cleansing, gentle drying, and a thin layer of ointment as needed.
- Staying out of direct sun. College Park summers get humid, and that combo of heat plus UV can irritate healing skin fast.
- If you’re heading across campus or spending time outdoors, plan shade and a hat once your skin can tolerate it.
What to avoid (yes, still)
- Workouts that leave sweat sitting on your face. If you’re a student or commuter with a tight schedule, pick low-sweat movement for a week.
- Saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs.
- Professional facials, waxing, threading, and strong skincare in the treated area.
Practical tip for College Park: if UMD game days or Downtown College Park events are on your calendar, try to schedule your appointment so your first week is quieter. Crowds and outdoor time make it harder to avoid sun and sweat.
Days 8–14: when your skin looks “fine” but still needs rules
By week two, most people feel like they’re back to normal. This is also when little mistakes happen because the area doesn’t look irritated anymore. If you want that brighter, more even finish to last, keep protecting your skin while it continues to settle.
Week 2 focus: bring back your regular routine slowly, and keep sun exposure low. Fall appointments often feel easier for healing because UV tends to be less intense than midsummer.
Sun protection is not optional
I’m big on sunscreen education in the room, and my regulars will tell you I’ll remind you more than once. Once your skin is no longer open or flaking, wear a broad-spectrum SPF daily. Hyperpigmentation loves unprotected sun. And in College Park, even a quick walk outside can add up.
Give your actives a little break
Hold retinoids, acids, exfoliants, and scrubs near the area for 2 to 4 weeks. If you restart too soon, you can trigger irritation that turns into uneven tone again. If you’re not sure what counts as an “active, ” send me your product list and I’ll help you sort it out.
The simple routine that keeps face and lip pigmentation treatment on track
You don’t need a 10-step routine after pigment correction. In fact, simpler is usually safer in the first two weeks. Here’s what I like for most people.
Cleanse
Use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser. No exfoliating beads, no acids, no strong foaming formulas.
Moisturize
Apply the ointment I recommended in a thin layer. If you’re dry, reapply lightly instead of rubbing more product in.
Protect
Once healed enough for SPF, use broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. Reapply if you’re outside for extended time.
If you’re prone to dehydration, keep your hydration consistent. I’ve had clients realize those “little red pimples” were actually dehydrated skin. When we got hydration right, their skin bounced back to its natural glow.
When to reach out to me at Paradise of Beauty (and when to book your follow-up)
A little redness, tightness, and mild flaking can be part of the normal window. What I never want you to do is sit at home stressing if something feels off. I’d rather you message or call and let me take a look.
“I’ve been here a few times and I absolutely love it. Every treatment I’ve had has been super effective. Always leave glowy.”
one of our regulars
Call me if you notice: fever, spreading redness, heavy discharge, increasing pain, or sudden patchy pigment loss that looks unusual or is getting worse fast.
Plan your follow-up at 4 to 6 weeks. That timing matters because your skin needs time to finish its repair cycle before I evaluate what’s next. I offer quick check-ins for clients coming in from Hyattsville, Riverdale Park, Greenbelt, Beltsville, University Park, and Berwyn Heights, especially if you’re trying to fit healing into a busy schedule.
If you want to compare this facial to other options, read our facial treatments in College Park overview. And if you need the basics again, I’m always happy to walk you through your home steps the same way I do in the room, step by step.

A quick reminder on timing for College Park life
If you’re a student, faculty member, or commuter around UMD, the easiest healing happens when you can keep the first week low-key. Try not to plan long outdoor days right after your appointment. That little bit of planning is usually what keeps your tone even and your results looking consistent.
